I just read a great quote…
The skill of writing is to create a context in which other people can think.
– Edwin Schlossberge
When I’m writing my own posts I hope it will give someone, somewhere, an ‘aha moment’ which is, in effect, making them think, I suppose.
We’ve all read some junk on the internet and I challenge anyone to honestly say they haven’t.
This quote meant something to me. I will attempt to write things that inspire people to think and when I read things, I will choose to look at the message beyond the words…thinking.
That’s it! I liked it and wanted to share it! Thank you and good night!

evening_stormA big lesson of the summer was to never waste good emotions. When things get you down (like business and the summertime did for me) write it down, do a video, get your frustrations and feelings recorded somewhere. Then when solutions come to you, write those down too, or do a video. And share both! Many of your customers, clients, business partners are experiencing the same things but may be afraid to say it.
Summer is drawing to a close. The ‘lazy’ days will soon be memories. I’m sure you were busy, as I was, with kids home from school, summertime activities, and vacations whether traveling or having a staycation at home. Enjoying the time with family, but maybe frustrated that you weren’t able to put in the hours you wanted on your business. Or more frustrating, that you did and took time away from your families, but were left high and dry by, well, summertime and all the activities of your prospects, customers, clients, and partners.

woman in rainI had experienced the frustrations myself and, looking for excuses wanted to stand in the rain and forget about business. Why bother?!? No one was available. I could hardly find a person at home this summer for an appointment. So I’d decided to stand in the rain, forget business, it’s too hard, no one is interested, maybe I’ve found all the people I’m going to find, maybe it’s just not for me, blow it off.
And then the words of a dear friend and coach came to me. ‘Weather the storm’! I realized summer will be over, school will be back in session and people will be back to the usual grind.
That was the rainbow at the end of my frustrations. I came in from the rain, weathered the storm, and am soaking up the rainbow and sun. I took the time to focus on my family, play games, have cookouts, read, and spent little time on my business. Now the sun is out and it’s time to get back to work, growing my business and helping the courageous who weathered the storm with me!rainbow

Weather the storm, record it, and when the sun starts to shine again, record that too, and share it all! This is how we become great as mompreneurs, living it, loving it, sharing it!
Have a great week!

As I read and think about Kate and her family, I’m moved to think of my own children, balance, life, love, and joy. May we all come together in hope and prayer for Kate and her family in their hour of need. Through their trials may we recognize within our own families the assets, hopes, dreams, and inspirations that are our children.
I believe Kate may already be in surgery this morning, please pray for her Doctors as they work on her.
And please forward this to everyone you know!

If you haven’t heard about her yet, please watch the video and read about beautiful Kate.

Keep updated on Kate here.

Change, change, change! This is one of the hardest words for anyone to really accept. We are creatures of the comfortable and stretching beyond what we know if often the cause of defeat. The greatest power we have is to control what we ourselves do, and that is powerful!

If you want success, I have a secret…take detailed notes! Ta-da! I have a secret
Yes, it is that simple.

Just by listening, we retain only about 25% of the material. If we take notes, we increase that retention to about 55% and then by reviewing our notes, we retain more than 80% of the material. That’s huge!

Very Important!!! Make sure to write down anything that your mind wants to block out or reject as wrong. Our subconscious likes to fight change and the easiest way is to resist is by telling ourselves that what we hear won’t work. We find our minds circling all the reasons and excuses that a certain teaching will fail and that is what we focus on. Write down everything you hear in the material from seminars, webinars, phone conferences, etc. that causes your mind to react that way. These are the thoughts that are holding us back, making us resist the change we need to create the success we want, and the only way to combat that is to write it down, review it, and practice it to change our core belief system.

“Whatever you believe is true with conviction; your mind will move heaven and earth to make it true to you.” anonymous

For many of us mompreneurs, there comes a time when we really have to sit down and decide how we are going to ‘do it all’.  There are commitments we need to make to ourselves in order to be successful.  Lately I’ve discovered from business associates, potential business associates, twitter and other social media friends, that often people forget or do not know that businesses do not run themselves.

A common misconception about a home business is that someone can sign up and it will take a life of its own, grow, thrive, and sell itself.  This is the farthest from the truth and if you’ve fallen into that mode of thinking, it’s time to seriously consider what you want out of your business, why you joined it, and where you hope it will take you.

A home business is exactly what the name infers, a business you conduct from your home.  This means you still have to work on in and in it, but you do it at your convenience, scheduling your work hours around your home life, so you can still be successful without the confines of a structured office and it’s time constraints in the traditional ‘work day’.

Here are 4 commitments to make to yourself to soar with your business;

1-Make a change.   Be ready, willing, and able to take action.   Real action!  If you are not doing things that are profiting your business or scheduling things that have a financial potential, you are not taking real action.

2-Time.    Set aside time strictly for your business; 7-10 hours/week, 6 months-1 year – the more time you can afford to put in, the quicker the business will start to work for you.  Don’t sell yourself or your business short with the ‘get rich quick’ thinking.  To get anything in your life to be productive and strong, time is a very important ingredient.  And you must be willing to commit the time.

3-Tuition.   Find every means necessary to learn everything necessary.  If you can afford coaching and programs, go full throttle and soak up everything others can teach you.  If not, find books, online education programs, avenues that won’t cost you as much and then do what a coach once told me, ‘read until your eyes bleed’.  Make the investment in yourself.  This will also be a tax write off for your business so don’t sell this avenue short.

**on a side note with education-an amazing thing struck me as I attended a seminar within my own business.  These very coaches, trainers, and speakers that I look upon to further my own growth and education are attending the same seminars and learning the same valuable information that I am from their own collegues.  I couldn’t believe my eyes one weekend as I watched more that a dozen speakers and I realized that there in the front row was Brian Tracy, soaking it all up, and a few rows behind him, Paul Martinelli.  Just last Saturday I was at an event to highlight a new product within my company and sitting right in front of me was Trapper Woods, and behind me Danny White.  All of these people who have achieved great business and training successes as business people and trainers, are still growing and learning from those around them.  Take this simple lesson and apply it to your own life and business.

4-Don’t give up.  You’ve heard it a million times before and for some it still doesn’t sink in.  There is a 3% success rate.  Failure cannot be an option.  You are one of the 3% and it’s because of a simple equation; Do the work, Stay committed, surround yourself with like-minded entrepreneurs, and ask when you need encouragment or guidance.

To your success!
